Banks on the Wear is a premium hospitality destination at Sunderland AFC’s Stadium of Light, developed in partnership with Sunderland AFC and Delaware North UK and realised alongside 20.20 Limited. Anchored by Michelin-starred chef Tommy Banks, the project transforms the former James Herriot Suite into a refined farm-to-fork dining experience with panoramic views over the River Wear, elevating matchday hospitality with a confident and sophisticated brand identity.
The concept emerged from an analysis of Sunderland’s rich mining history and the farm to fork concept that Tommy Banks team is known for. Highlighting premium produce, inspired by mining items such as pocketbooks and mottie tokens, and celebrating James Herriot, the restaurant uses an eclectic mix of items to create a space rich in history and discovery.
